Know Your Cannabis Terpenes!

Learn what terpenes are and how they affect your cannagar’s aroma and flavor.

Our cannabis strains are cultivated with a distinct chemical profile, giving users a wide range of smell and taste options.

Terpenes

Terpenes are naturally occurring chemical compounds found in cannabis plants. They reside within THC-bearing trichomes, the sticky wet crystal resin glands of the plant containing THC, CBD, and other active cannabinoids.

Terpenes are responsible for the way a cannabis plant smells and tastes. Each strain of cannabis has its own signature terpene profile, meaning different strains possess different fragrance and taste characteristics. Popular strains are identified throughout the industry with recognizable names that allude to their essence.

Together with cannabinoids like THC and CBD, terpenes illustrate synergic and/or entourage effects on the brain and body. Although they interact with THC and CBD compounds, terpene compounds do not contain cannabinoids like THC and therefore have little psychoactive effect on users, so they are not regulated under state or federal law. Many terpenes are "generally recognized as safe" (GRAS) by the FDA for use in consumables, and they are frequently used as such.
